Bangla Mission in touch with various embassies

NEW DELHI, DEC. 21- The Bangladesh Mission here is negotiating with various foreign embassies for an early recognition of the new-born State of Bangladesh, reports PTI.
Mr. H. R. Choudhury, head of the Mission, said he was awaiting an early reply from the Government of these embassies with whom he had been in contact.
From Jakarta, Reuter adds: All Bengali diplomats, attached to the Pakistani Embassy here, yesterday defected to Bangladesh with their families yesterday.
The 53 East Bengalis appeared at a Press conference, then one by one stood under the Bangladesh flag to take oath. “I swear my allegiance to the Independent Republic of Bangladesh”.
Meanwhile, 41 Bengali businessmen in Jakarta have also expressed allegiance to Bangladesh.
Yesterday four more Bengali employees of the Pakistani Embassy in Kathmandu switched their allegiance to Bangladesh.
The First Secretary in charge of commercial affairs at the Pakistani Embassy in Paris, Mr. Muslehuddin Ahmad, said he was joining Bangladesh.
A senior diplomat of the Pakistani Embassy in Belgrade has also defected to Bangladesh.
Five Bengali members of the Pakistani Embassy in Bangkok switched their allegiance to Bangladesh last weekend.
Two Bengali officials of the Pakistan High Commission in Canberra also resigned and sought temporary residence in Australia in sympathy with Bangladesh.
A top diplomat defected from the Pakistani High Commission in London on Monday night and said he had offered to work for the new Bangladesh Government, says UNI.
Mr. A. F. M. Hasanul Kabir No. 2 man at the High Commission as Economic Minister walked into the Times office in London and said he had quit.
