Move To Coordinate Efforts Afoot
By Our Special Representative, The Bangladesh Cabinet is believed to have met leaders of a few major parties of East Bengal at Mujibnagar to coordinate their efforts for the liberation of Bangladesh. Among those present were Maulana Bhasani of the National Awami Party, who is also the leader of a coordination committee of a few other parties and groups; Mr. Manoranjan Dhar, formerly a Minister in the 1954 United Front Government in East Bengal; Prof. Muzaffar Ahmad of the the National Awami Party (Wali Khan Group) and a tribal leader.
It is learnt that there were two proposals before the meeting – one for the formation of a national war front and the other for the setting up of an advisory committee. Earlier, some political parties of East Bengal had complained to the Bangladesh Cabinet that a system of screening had dampened enthusiasm of their supporters.
