Pak Ambassador To Iraq Resigns
LONDON. Aug. 22- Mr. Abul Fateh, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iraq has resigned his post in protest against Pakistani Army action in East Bengal, says AP. Mr. Fateh, who arrived here on Friday night, signed a document at a press conference here yesterday severing his links with the Pakistani Government. Mr. Fateh, 45, told reporters: “I have come to Britain, which has become the nerve center of the Bangladesh movement, to work in whatever capacity my people here decide.”
PTI adds: Mr. Khondakar Moshtaque Ahmed, Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, today urged the employees in the Pakistan Foreign Service to follow the example Mr. Fateh and “plunge into the battle against Yahya’s military regime.” The Foreign Minister, who was commenting on Mr. Fateh’s transfer of allegiance to the Bangladesh Government, said: “We welcome Mr. Fateh to our fold.”
