BOMBAY, July 19: Mr. Mohammed Nurul Quadir, a prominent worker of the Awami League and an official of the BanglaDesh Government, said here last night that the Mukti Fauj, had definitely won the first round of the struggle of independence against the Yahya regime and “it won’t be long before final victory is ours.”

“We are in a position to hit the enemy. The morale is very high among everyone in the Mukti Fauj. We are nearing our only goal- the liberation of Bangladesh – our Sonar Bangla,” he said in a special interview broadcast over the Bombay station of All India Radio.

Replying to a question, Mr. Quadir said the demand for the liberation of BanglaDesh was a revolutionary movement against the tyranny of the military junta. It was wrong to say it was a mere cultural movement or a secessionist movement.

In fact, Mr. Quadir said the six-point programme of Sheik Mujibur Rahman was applicable to people of both West Pakistan and East Bengal.

Mr. Quadir said the Sheik never advocated secession. He knew he represented the majority and the majority could never secede from the minority.
