Kissinger meets Haksar, Kaul
New Delhi, July 6.-President Nixon’s Adviser on National Security. Dr. Henry A. Kissinger, today had informal talks with Mr. P. N. Haksar, Secretary to the Prime Minister, and the Foreign Secretary. Mr. T. N. Kaul report agencies.
Dr. Kissinger, who arrived this afternoon from Bangkok, called on Mr. Haksar in the evening. They were together for over an hour The exchange of views with Mr. Kaul took pace at a dinner hosted by the Foreign Secretary.
Informed sowrces descrited these contacts as preliminery to a series of discussion.
According to political observers, the main issue between India and the USA on the question of Bangladesh now as “the crisis of confidence arms from the continued == supply by the US to Pakistan in violation of solemn assurances given to Mr. Swaran Singh at Washington and to the Union Government here.
An AP correspondent, travelling with Mr. Agnew on his flight from Singapore to Kuwali, quoted a statement by the Vice-President describing the refugee problem as an “occurrence that is reaching near disaster proportions.”
Mr. Agnew said in the statement. “It is my intention to assure Indian officials that the US is extremely Sympa thetid to them for the added burdens they have had to assume regarding the East Pakistani refugees….
