Pak Shells Land In Cooch Behar : 5 Injured
From Our Staff Correspondent, SILIGURI, June 25.–there has been a fresh spurt in the influx of refugees in Cooch Behar District following the advance of Pakistani troops towards Hatibandha in Rangpur District on Tuesday last. Both on Tuesday and Wednesday, the Pakistani Army heavily shelled areas around Hatibandha, some of the shells landing inside contiguous Indian territory under Sitalkuchi police station in Cooch Behar District. Five Indian nationals were injured.
A feature of the current influx is that almost all of the nearly 3,000 people, who have so far crossed into the Sitalkuchi area, are Muslims.
Meanwhile, according to available reports the Pakistani troops, all along their path of advance, are laying waste the countryside.
