Many West Pakistani Firms Close Down

NEW DELHI, July 13 Scores of industrial concerns have been closed down and hundreds of workers laid off or retrenched in West Pakistan due to lack of industrial raw materials and loss of the East Bengal market for finished products reports PTI.
Reliable reports also speak of local bodies and Government departments retrenching their staff on account of a drastic cut in the development expenditure announced in this year’s Budget.
These reports also indicate growing resentment of the commercial community in West Pakistan against the Governments economic policy.
The worst affected are the textile and silk mills several of which have either closed down or curtailed their working hours. The closure of the textile mills followed complete stoppage of supplies.
