Infiltration will not be tolerated : PM

KARIGRANJ, JUNE 11.- The Prime Minister today warned Pakistan that India would not tolerate any infiltration of the Pakistani Army into Indian territory, says UNI Indian Forces, she said, were prepared to take adequate action to meet such infiltration.
Addressing a large public meeting here this evening, The Prime Minister said that Pakistan had been trying to inflame communal disturbances in India by giving a communal colour to the East Bengal problem. The people, she said, must be alert against such designs of Pakistan and help the Government in maintaining communal harmony and internal peace.
The Prime Minister said world opinion had also been created in favour of the evacuees and the Pakistani atrocities had also become world-known. “We must now help the refugees to save them from death and destruction”, she added.
Earlier, Mrs, Gandhi visited some of the refugee camps in Karimganj subdivision in Cachar District bordering East Bengal.
She was accompained by the Assam Chief Minister, Mr. Mahendra Mohan Choudhury and the Chairman of the National Bangladesh Evacuees’ Relief Committee, Miss Padmaja Naidu.
Addressing the meeting, Mr. Choudhury appealed to the people to maintain communal harmony and peace in the State.
In spite of continuous showers, more than 30,000 people attended the meeting.
The Prime Minister appealed to people of all classes, religions and regions to work hard in cooperation with the Government to wipe out poverty from India. She declared that India was one and strong and no power on earth could subdue her.
Tomorrow, the Prime Minister will visit some of the more important camps in the Garo Hills of Meghalaya and will stay overnight at Tura, the district headquarters town of Garo Hills, adds PTI.
Mrs. Gandhi will leave for New Delhi the following morning.
