Masud to attend diplomats’ interview
From Our Special Correspondent, NEW DELHI, June 19,-Further progress is reported to have been made in talks with the Swiss Ambassador here today for the repatriation of the personnel of former Deputy High Commissioner in Dacca and Calcutta.
Pakistan has nominated her Deputy High Commissioner in Calcutta. Mr. Mahdi Masud, to be present when the former personnel of her Deputy High Commission are individually questioned if they wanted to go to Pakistan.
From the India side, Mr. A. K. Ray, Joint Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, may he nominated to be present. Mr. Ray has opened a hranch office of the Ministry’s Pakistan division in Calcutta.
Iran has offered to airlift the personnel both from Dacca and Calcutta.
A set pattern of questions to be asked to former personnel of Pakistani Deputy High Commission in Calcutta has been agreed upon by India and Pakistan. A Press release by the Pakistani High Commission here toady said on this subject. Pakistan had sent a questionnaire to which India had some amendments and which Pakistan, in her turn, had accepted.
The release confirmed, according to Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary, that they all would meet in a “neutral building” in the presence of a Swiss representative.
