5,000 C (R) youths to donate blood

By A Staff Reporter, About 5,000 Chhatra Parishad and Youth Congress volunteers will donate blood in the central blood Bank in Calcutta on Monday, said Mr. Priya Ranjan Das Munshi, MP, at a Press conference on Saturday.
This decision was taken in view of the grave national crisis created by the Indo-Pak conflict.
Mr. Das Munshi also said that volunteers would go to villages to boost the morale of the common people and also to make them aware of the importance of observing civil defence. The volunteers would appeal to different clubs and parties, irrespective of their political affiliation, to maintain peace and order in villages and co-operate with the civil defence and police authorities in dealing effectively with antisocial elements and foreign agents in West Bengal.
He appealed to the owners of cinema and theatre halls to play discs of patriotic songs before, after and during the recess of all shows and performances.
Chhatra Parishad volunteers have also a plan to open a number of free canteens along the border for the Indian Army personnel, he added.
Prof. Nirmal Bose, Secretary, All India Forward Bloc (Bengal Committee) while calling upon the people of West Bengal to remain united at this hour of grave national crisis, assures his party’s “full support and co-operation to the Prime Minister in her efforts to defend the motherland and to defeat the naked and unprovoked aggression of Pakistan on us.”
Janab M. A. Rasul, Vice-President of the All-India Kisan Sabha, said in a statement that the All-India · Kisan Sabha “views the situation with grave concern and appeals to the Kisans and agricultural workers of the country to unite themselves for defending the people and the sovereignty of the nation from the attacks of the enemy. The government should allow them full democratic rights so that they may be mobilised for the purpose as they are called upon to do so in the emergency situation.”
