Dr. Malik may replace Tikka Khan

NEW DELHI, AUG. 23.—There seems to be some substance in the speculation that the aged Dr. A. M. Malik unfortunately is Bengali from East Bengal is likely to succeed Gen. Tikka Khan as the military administrator of Pakistan in Dacca.
Dr. Malik (a dentist and he had once his chamber in Calcutta) who had or long been a Labour Minister in Pakistan is by now a proved stooge. Why he has been awarded this year by Pakistan the title of “Hialli- Quaide Aazm” on August 14 last. This is the highest award of this year, his name being the first one in the list, followed immediately by Gen. Tikka Khan’s the man with the bloodiest hands in history.
It is learnt, Dr Maliks name figures high in the list of Bangladesh Mukti Fouj for a early liquidation.

The Bangladesh Chief, Mr. Hossain Ali said in Calcutta on Monday that “the Pakistani gimmic of appointing a Bengali puppet as the Governor of the erstwhile East Pakistan, will have no influence on the course of events there.”
He said,” A stooge cannot control the forces inimical to the interests of the people. Dr. Malik who appears to be playing a dubious role against the interest of Bangladesh, will be treated as the people’s enemy number one and the Mukti Bahini will take the earliest opportunity to eliminate him.
He said as long as this Pakistani solders were in Bangladesh. It was impossible to restore confidence in the minds of the refugees and the people inside Bangladesh.
