Labour Trouble Climate
Never More Peaceful- Mujib

By a Staff Reporter
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Minister for commerce, Labour and Industries, Government of East Pakistan, in a statement issued in Dacca yesterday said that the climate for peaceful development of this province had never been more peaceful than it was at present. He said that there had been “some industrial disputes between the labour and the management in some places but all these disputes have been amicably settled and Government is ever vigilant on the industrial secne and in matters of labour relations.”
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman said, “Even in the rechest of rich Western countries the labour periodically asks for higher wages and more amenities. In our case, we want the labour to get a fair deal from the employers and I dare say that the employers themselves feel the supreme need for keeping a contented labour.”
The Minister said that the report of widespread labour trouble in East Pakistan was “mischievous propaganda.”
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman said that during his last visit to Karachi a few days ago a number of industrialists had offered their services for the industrial development of this wing “Perhaps discouraged by this trend and the great interest evinced by industrialists elsewhere in East Pakistan,” the Minster said, “Those forces of darkness, doom and fear which do not like the prospect of a better and more prosperous East Pakistan have mounted this propaganda offensive. I am sure they will fail in their objective.”
