Mujibur Rahman’s release Welcomed in Karachi

KARACHI, Feb, 24: Maulana Ehtishamul Haq Thanvi yesterday welcomed the release of Shaikh Mujibur Rahman and withdrawal of Agartala Conspiracy case and said that now the atmosphere for political parleys had much improved.
In a statement issued last night Maulana Thanvi demanded an inquiry against all Government officials responsible for instituting wrong cases against innocent persons.
He said concoction of Agartala Conspiracy Case, detention of Mr. Bhutto and Shorish Kashmiri and Shaikh Mujibur Rahman in the ultimate analysis proved to be wrong and Government was forced to withdraw its baseless cases.
He said it was the ‘blackest action’ of the present regime to create all sorts or ordinances, laws and regulations oriented to serve the purpose of an individual rather than of the nation of the country.
He demanded that an inquiry should be opened against all Government officials who activity participated in such schemes and helped the Government to play such a deadly hoax with the nation and the country.
Maulana Asadul Qadri, President and Mufti Wali Haswan, Vice-President, Majlis-e-Ulema-e-Pakistan. congratulated President Ayub on his wise decision.
They said he has thus left the field open for the people to choose their own candidate and their own system of Government and added. “It is now for the people to stand equal to the task, close their ranks and look to the best interests of the Millat.”
Mr. Michael M. R. Chohan, President West Pakistan Catholic Federation, said President Ayub has shown “great magnanimity of heart and his genuine love for the nation and the country”.
He appealed to the President and the participants of the RTC to consider the question of representation of the Pakistani Christian minority in legislatures and other elective bodies of the country.
Mr. Mobashir Aslam, President of the Jinnah College Students Union and a member of the Central Working committee of NSF (Rasheed group) said the end of 10-year dictatorship was and achievement of the present students and people’s revolutionary
movement.
In a press statement he lashed out at the Democratic Action Committee and said that the anti-people policy of DAC was evident from the fact that it did not include the economic demands in its eight-point programme.
Mir Laik Ali, a former Chief Minister of Hyderabad Deccan has congratulated President Ayub Khan on his decision not to contest the next Presidential election.
The Jammu and Kashmir Plebiscite Front, in a Press statement said that President Ayub has through his two very important and patriotic decisions-his announcement of not contesting the Presidency and withdrawal of the Agartala case-has paved the way for successful government-opposition talks, which most probably will result in the establishment of a truly democratic government in Pakistan.
The nature of the Kashmir issue demanded a truly democratic government in Azad Kashmir, Gilgit and Baltistan to justify the demand for the night of self-determination for the people of the state.
Now that Pakistan is getting rid of the autocratic control the bureaucracy, It is in the… of things that immediate steps are taken to democratic Azad Kashmir, Gilgit and Baltistan.
