Sheikh Mujibur Rahman (East Bengal: Muslim): Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I rise on a point of privilege.
(Honourable Deputy Speaker: Yes.)
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman: Sir, Yesterday, my honourable friend, Mr. Abul Mansur Ahmad, raised a point of privilege and you were pleased to refer that point to the privileges Committee. Today, again, the same paper, Times of Karachi, has committed a breach of privileges by publishing its comments under the heading “Abul Mansur’s Privilege”. Sir, if you permit me, may I read it?
(Honourable Deputy Speaker: What is your motion of privilege?)
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman: Yesterday, Sir, my friend, Mr. Abul Mansur Ahmad, raised a point of privilege and this House referred that point to the privileges Committee and that matter is still before it. Sir, today, the Times of Karachi has commented upon the point of privilege raised by Mr. Abul Mansur Ahmad which amounts to an insult not only to the Honourable Member but an insult to the whole House.
(Mr. Yusuf A. Haroon (Karachi): May I submit, Sir, according to your ruling yesterday, the Honourable Member should have given due notice of his intention of moving the motion of privilege.)
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman: We know that but it is a matter of very great importance.
