Lahore Court admits petition against Yahya

LAHORE DEC. 23-A court in Lahore will decide on December 25 whether it can deal with a petition against former President Yahya Khan, it was announced here, reports, AFP.
The court admitted the petition yesterday. It was lodged by a local labour leader against Gen. Yahya and six other unnamed officials who, the petition said, failed to preserve and protect Pakistani sovereignty in accordance with the oath they had taken.
The council Muslim League meanwhile, has demanded that a highlevel inquiry be held against Gen. Yahya Khan and his collaborators who were responsible for the present reverses of Pakistan, Radio Pakistan reported, adds UNI.
The demand was raised at a meeting of the party in Lahore yesterday. However, there was no mention of the League’s support to the new Government of Mr. Bhutto.
The Punjab branch of the Pakistan Democratic Party also demanded that Gen. Yahya Khan be brought to trial, the radio said.
